Hmmmm

Ok, so I guess since the majority of my sisters have started to blog, I will too. Maybe the rest will catch on, too. I think we all started this online thing with Myspace, then Facebook, and now we've moved onto the wonderful world of Blogging! Like Marie, I don't have a whole lot to say, not much going on. But that shouldn't stop me from letting those who aren't around know what's going on in my life, right? I guess so.....

Ok, so right now, I'm ridiculously sore. From the 20 mile bike ride Matt and I did yesterday? Nope! From the small Pilates session I did yesterday. I am taking an online Yoga class, and we had to meet for our one class yesterday. Well, I guess the prof is teaching Pilates as well, and we all met together. At the end of our "class" (not much teaching going on, just a lot of discussion) we did a little bit of Pilates, then Yoga. The Pilates moves just about killed me, and when I woke up this morning, I felt like I had been kicked in the ribs. I don't know about you, but when I exercise, I don't like to feel awful the next day. At least my legs feel great.

For those of you who don't know, Matt and I have set a goal for ourselves that we are going to ride our bikes across the country, from Virginia, to either Washington, then California, or just to Cali. We haven't decided which. This is going to take place when Matt gets out of the Navy and I've graduated from school. So we have a little more than a year and a half to get ready for our trip. We'll be riding across on our own. We'll bring camping equipment and have a blast. It should take us at least 45 days, probably closer to 60, to get across. We hope to be able to ride just around 70 miles a day, and rest every 4 or 5 days. We'll sightsee and take our time. Doesn't that sound like fun?

So, in preparation for this trip, I've started riding my bike to school. It is 11 miles, one way. So I get 22 miles a day in. It isn't a hard ride, and I stick to the sidewalk most of the time. There's one good hill that goes up and over some railroad tracks. But most of it is pretty flat. It takes me a little more than an hour do get to school. Considering that I used to leave the house an hour before class starts just to be on the safe side, I'm not leaving a whole lot earlier than I used to. And on the way home, I just try to enjoy the ride. It's fun being outside for a couple hours every day. Not only do I feel good because I'm riding my bike and exercising, I save about $6 each day that I ride to school. And if gas prices keep going up, it's actually good news for me, because that means I'm saving even more money! :)

Ok, well, I'm sure you're all tired of reading this, but I'll try to keep everyone posted and updated about what is going on in my life.

Love you all!

  1. Ok,you are just way too ambitious. I just get excited when I bike to Tasty Treat for ice cream. I do have one nice hill on that trail, and I get to tow the kids. Maybe that's what you should do to prepare, tow Kate's kids to build up some muscles!!!

  2. Yeah, I could do that, but I'd have to get a tow-er. You know what I mean. You know what? I made french fries the other day that reminded me of Tasty Treat's french fries. They were yummy, and I didn't even fry them! :)

  4. Mike, is that sarcasm I hear? *gasp* hehe. Seriously, it will be fun, and also, we'd better not be going only 10 mph. On a slow day I average 14 mph. Hopefully we'll get it up even higher. *shrug* We'll see. It will be an adventure, at least.
