Total miles for last week:

Total-90 miles

Today, Matt and I decided to go on a REAL bike ride. We thought it would be ironic to ride our bikes to First Landing State Park (ironic because we just bought a parking annual pass for the park, and now we're riding our bikes there...)So we took off at 9 am, and rode, and rode, and before we knew it, we were at the park. Our goal was to ride 30 miles, which is 8 more miles than I usually do in a day. So we took the Cape Henry Trail, which is partially dirt (mud) and when we got to the other side, we decided to see where along the ocean front we were. We came out at 64th street! We couldn't resist riding to the boardwalk and riding the whole length. This added a few extra miles, about 2.5 each way, and our total ride ended up a little over 35 miles. We're both pretty exhausted. We had to take a nap this afternoon. But we got home around 1, so it only took us 4 hours. But we did stop several times to stretch, and just enjoy the fact that we RODE OUR BIKES down to the oceanfront. Unfortunately, we didn't end up saving much money, b/c we decided to get Subway on the way back so we could save ourselves some time cooking lunch. But was a great ride overall. And the weather cooperated. It was overcast and gloomy, but we didn't get rained on. I think we're well on our way to being ready for the great ride across the country.

  1. Pam, 35 miles is AWESOME! Do you have a hot tub? Because if not, I bet you wish you did! Love ya.

  2. You know? A hot tub WOULD have been really nice! :) (Nope, we don't have one) We just ended up relaxing on the couch, which wasn't quite as nice.
